Showtime on Ice announces the forty-sixth annual production of Showtime on Ice. Highlighting the event are guest skaters, Max Aaron, Ryan Bradley and pairs team, Ashley Cain and Timothy LeDuc.
CENTENNIAL, CO (March 16, 2018) – Colorado Skating Club and Denver Figure Skating Club proudly present the annual ice show, Showtime on Ice – a Denver tradition since 1973. Showtime on Ice is a non-profit community event co-produced by the two figure skating clubs. The theme for the forty-sixth annual production is a whimsical highlight show – featuring favorite melodies and scenes from Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book and Hairspray. Each year audiences enjoy this spectacle on ice – a rich and storied tradition, so beloved in the local and regional figure skating community.
The late Peggy DeLio created the show experience to expose figure skaters and their families to Broadway musicals and classics. The first show was modeled after Ice Follies. Every year the show has featured a different theme. Although Showtime on Ice has a colorful past featuring many top skaters/rising stars, most of the 150+ participants come from local Denver ice arenas, South Suburban Ice Arena and Family Sports Center.
In addition to local talent, shows have highlighted national, world, and Olympic skating champions and competitors including Scott Hamilton, Dorothy Hamill, Paul Wylie, Robin Cousins, Kristi Yamaguchi, Rudy Galindo and John Curry. Most recently the show has featured some of the brightest stars in figure skating including Adam Rippon, Gracie Gold, Mirai Nagasu, Polina Edmunds, Alexa Scimeca/Chris Knierim, Starr Andrews and Alex/Maia Shibutani.
The spring production will feature exciting new talent and also a couple of audience favorites. Showtime on Ice is pleased to announce US Pairs Team, Ashley Cain and Timothy LeDuc – 2018 Four Continents Silver Medalists, 2017 US National Pewter Medalists and 2016 US National Bronze Medalists. Returning for unprecedented fifth appearances are Ryan Bradley and Max Aaron. Ryan is 2011 US National Champion, 2010 US Olympic team member and World team competitor. Max is 2013 US National Champion, 2016 US Silver Medalist, 2014 US Bronze Medalist, 2015 Skate America Champion and 2017 Cup of China Bronze Medalist. Most recently he placed fifth at the Four Continents Championship and is making his fourth appearance at the World Championships.
