Showtime on Ice announces the forty-seventh annual production of Showtime on Ice with opening night special event, The Purple Gala, in recognition of Pat and Annabel Bowlen and raising awareness and support for Alzheimer’s Association.

CENTENNIAL, CO (January 25, 2019) – Colorado Skating Club and Denver Figure Skating Club proudly present the annual ice show, Showtime on Ice – a Denver tradition since 1973. Showtime on Ice is a non-profit community event co-produced by the two figure skating clubs. The forty-seventh annual production features scenes and musical highlights from blockbuster hits Moana, Coco, Hamilton and Les Miserables. The audience will enjoy this spectacle on ice – a rich and storied tradition, featuring four brand new stories not previously produced by Showtime on Ice.

The late Peggy DeLio created the show experience to expose figure skaters and their families to Broadway musicals and classics. The first show was modeled after Ice Follies. Every year the show has featured a different theme. Although Showtime on Ice has a colorful past featuring many top skaters/rising stars, most of the 150+ participants come from local Denver ice arenas, South Suburban Ice Arena and Family Sports Center.

In addition to local talent, shows have highlighted national, world, and Olympic skating champions and competitors including Scott Hamilton, Dorothy Hamill, Paul Wylie, Robin Cousins, Kristi Yamaguchi, Rudy Galindo and John Curry. Most recently the show has featured some of the brightest stars in figure skating including Adam Rippon, Gracie Gold, Mirai Nagasu, Polina Edmunds, Alexa Scimeca/Chris Knierim, Starr Andrews and Alex/Maia Shibutani. This year’s guest skaters will be announced shortly.

The spring production in partnership with Alzheimer’s Association pays tribute to long time ice show supporters, Pat and Annabel Bowlen.  The Purple Gala, raises awareness for all of the families and caregivers living with this debilitating disease and will help raise funds for Alzheimers Association and this critical cause. Festivities commence with a cocktail reception and opportunity drawing at South Suburban Ice Arena on Friday, April 26. Special VIP on ice seating for reception guests follows the event.

There are four performances — two evening shows and two matinees, running from April 26-28, 2019. The event is held at South Suburban Ice Arena, 6280 S. Vine Street, Centennial, CO. The public is invited to experience one of the finest regional ice shows in the United States.
