Showtime on Ice announces the forty-fifth anniversary production of Showtime on Ice. Highlighting the event are guest skaters Ryan Bradley, Starr Andrews and Max Aaron.
CENTENNIAL, CO (February 27, 2017) – Colorado Skating Club and Denver Figure Skating Club proudly present the annual ice show, Showtime on Ice – a Denver tradition since 1973. It is a non-profit community event co-produced by the two figure skating clubs. The theme for the forty-fifth anniversary production is Tales As Old As Time – featuring musical highlights from past hits, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and Grease. This year’s forty-fifth anniversary show is truly a celebration of its long and rich tradition, so beloved in the local and regional figure skating community.
The late Peggy DeLio, created the show experience to expose figure skaters and their families to Broadway musicals and classics. The first show was modeled after Ice Follies and every year, the show has featured a different theme. Although Showtime on Ice has a storied past featuring many top skaters/rising stars, most of the 150+ participants come from local Denver ice arenas, South Suburban Ice Arena and Family Sports Center.
In addition to local talent, shows have highlighted national, world, and Olympic skating champions and competitors including Scott Hamilton, Dorothy Hamill, Paul Wylie, Robin Cousins, Kristi Yamaguchi, Rudy Galindo and John Curry. Most recently the show has featured Adam Rippon, Joshua Farris, Gracie Gold, Mirai Nagasu, Polina Edmunds, Alexa Scimeca/Chris Knierim and Alex/Maia Shibutani.
The spring production will feature exciting guest skaters, new talent and also well known audience favorites. Showtime on Ice is pleased to announce Starr Andrews – 2017 US National Junior Ladies Silver Medalist, 2016 Golden Bear International Junior Ladies Champion and 2016 US Challenge Skater Junior Ladies Champion. Returning for a fourth appearance is 2013 US National Champion, 2016 US Silver Medalist, 2014 Bronze Medalist, 2015 Skate America Champion and World Team Competitor, Max Aaron.
